The Product
Overcrowding, lack of sanitation and waste disposal resources, and inadequate one-time-use menstrual products all contribute to the need for the WISSP pad. Our hybrid, part-reusable and part-disposable, product is an efficient menstrual solution given the low-water, low-resource environment.
Why It’s Needed
The WISSP pad is an easy-to-use product is absorbent, stays in place, and requires little water for washing. It’s hybrid design makes it a sustainable solution for environments like the Dzaleka refugee camp.
How it Works
After traveling to the Dzaleka refugee camp and learning about the decreasing number of girls in school as they move up in grades, we knew we wanted to create a solution to help girls stay in school and achieve their academic goals. With this, WISSP was made.
How it was Developed
Our part-reusable, part-disposable design is not only a more sustainable solution for the environment, but it is also a more effective solution for communities with limited access to clean water, sanitation, and waste disposal resources.
